July 7: Just another day in Akiba
Today I got up at 10am-ish and went to the Yokosan to pick up some breakfast. I went with the intention of buying something other than korokke, but the korokke were 50円 and everything else was like 380円. Easy math. ;D I also got some milk, because the only things I've noticed missing from my diet are: whole grains, milk and fruit. I get lots of veggies, fish, eggs, meat, beans and rice from dorm meals, but I don't get much of the three aforementioned things. I'm not sure how to solve the fruit problem. I will have to check out that nearby greengrocer now that my weekends are Wednesday/Thursday. It has been closed almost every time I walk by it, morning or evening, weekend or weekday. Kabutoya-san says that its target market is probably housewives who I can see would be totally down with doing their shopping at 1pm on a weekday. Whole grains... ehh... I have no idea what to do. Rosen Bacfer sold whole grainy looking breads but the one I bought wasn't very good, so I dunno if they can be relied upon as a food source haha.
I chatted with Mom and Jiuna for a bit and then took a shower before heading out for Akihabara for the day. Becuase of my late departure due to family-chatting, I ate a late lunch at the Yoshinoya in Yokochuu. I was considering going to one of the places near it, but I couldn't remember which one Kabutoya-san had said was very popular but not very good haha. Also, 380円 for a large-size gyu-nabe don is just too good...
My trip to Akihabara was uneventful, and once there I checked to see if there were any 3rd Strike noobs about in CLUB SEGA 2 before moving to the Taito Game Station where I played Mushihimesama for a while (read: hours). I managed to get to the 5th stage (no continues, of course), and set a personal best score again, coming in at 19 million if I remember correctly (kind of hard to track your own progress when you can't remember how well you did haha).
I went for dinner at the maid-curry place which isn't really a maid place, to try out the MEGA katsu-curry that I didn't try last time. I was surpised to find out that the dish actually lives up to its name. >_< It was enormous! It was served in a rather shallow dish, so it made quite an impression on me with the vast area it covered on the counter in front of me haha. The katsu, on the other hand, is the same size as with the more sensibly proportioned regular katsu-curry, meaning it's absolutely dwarfed in the MEGA arrangement. Oh well, the maid-curry's attraction is the roux and the price; if I wanted to focus on katsu, I would have gone to Time for Homemade Curry. Also, I don't know if the maid-curry place is even supposed to have maids. The waitstaff are dressed like sane maids, not like the crazy ultra-frilly ones that are abundant in Akiba, and there are also male staff visible. Oh, I have such doubts!!! (sorry Meryl Streep)
After dinner I tried playing more Mushihimesama but I really, really sucked, so I had to stop. D: I went over to HEY! and found a 3rd Strike machine with a Dudley player that I could take rounds off of with superior footsies, but I could never win an entire match, because he just got so much more damage off of clean hits than I did. Elena is supposed to have good combos (especially in the corner), so I think I am much worse off not knowing any. After my brief stint of 3rd Strike I tried my hand at Mushihimesama, but I was still terrible, so I took that as a sign that it was time to go back to my dorm haha.
My trip back was fine, though it appears the limited expresses that turn into a local train to somewhere I don't want to go at Kanazawa Bunko is a regular affair. Oh well, I was expecting it this time and changed trains without any fuss. Unfortunately, once I got to Yokochuu, I walked to the bus stop, in full view of it the entire time, and arrived there at 10:15, right when a bus was supposed to arrive. The stop was devoid of people, however, and no bus came until the next one, so I think the previous one must have left quite a bit early, which is super obnoxious. D:< I waited anyways, since I didn't want to get hooked on Project Diva while trying to pass the time and caught the 10:33 bus back to my dorm, where I brushed my teeth and started blogging.
It's back to work tomorrow, for a much more "regular" (aside from the whole bit where my Monday is really Friday bit) week than last. It's also only about 4 weeks until Jiuna gets here! How exciting! What grand adventures we shall have! No footraces though. Just guessing. (sorry to all of you who didn't watch The Village. Actually I'm not sorry because you got the better end of the deal than I did in this case hahaha)
Night!
